1. Crew briefings have been a part of aviation since the 1940's when they were used by the military to coordinate a squadron that was embarking upon a combat mission 2. Commercial aviation adopted this practice but extended the briefing to include not only the pilots but the cabin crew too 3. Briefings may be conducted on board an aircraft, at the gate or at facilities at the base 4. Pilots and cabin crew have different briefing requirements and as such each require slightly different facilities.
