The latest generation IBOC Broadcast SystemsArchitecture (BSA) as provided by iBiquity DigitalCorporation transforms the present Importer, Exporter andExgine hardware components into software definedcomponents able to run on any of 3 iBiquity supportedhardware platforms. This paper provides a history of how theIBOC Broadcast Systems Architecture has evolved and thedifferent hardware platform choices available to IBOCequipment manufacturers today. An alternate peak-toaveragepower reduction algorithm (termed PAR2) helps withFM transmitter conversion requiring less transmitter poweroverhead as compared to legacy PAR1. The effectiveness ofthe available choices in peak-to-average power reduction onthese platforms is compared with respect to potentialtransmitter power performance and impact on signal quality,such as the modulation error ratio.
