Managing Metadata

摘要

Since the introduction of file-based workflowsin broadcast and video production, a variety of formats andfile standards has been emerged to provide exchange,research and archiving media assets in multiple systemenvironments. During the working process, metadata isadded to the assets. Metadata, which includes technical anddescriptive information, enriches the asset because itbecomes more accessible. But handling specific metadataacross different formats and systems is a challenge due tothe lack of compatibility and interoperability, which canlead to the loss of information. In relation to this issue, aprototype was developed to provide solutions for managingand mapping interoperable metadata. The prototype offersseveral web services to provide a better efficiency ofworking with metadata within media production, distributionand archiving. As a result, an insight look at the mainfeature components of the tool is given. With the underlyingsystem architecture new ways of interoperability andadvantages in carrying and transformation of metadata canbe achieved.
