An ASPEN PLUS simulator was developed to evaluate multiple input streams for gasification applications. Of particular interest is the case of gasifying low rank coal (LRC) and various types of biomass in a gasification reactor. Several combinations of biomass/LRC were evaluated to ascertain product gas composition and cold gas efficiencies. In order to closely approximate commercial gasifiers simulations were run at elevated pressure approximating those of commercial gasifiers and temperatures in the rage of 1200-1500K. Because of the issues involved in feeding low rank coals and biomass under high pressure to a reactor both potential dry feed and liquid CO_2 slurries were considered including modeling slurry feed and the effect of CO_2 on the gasification reactions.
