1. MC AAA Ml cables with internal splices are robust to failure at AMSO Pilot operating conditions (the goal of this study) 2. Attainment of low porosity (~15%) during manufacturing enables high thermal conductivities for the compacted MgO 3. Breakdown voltages of cables from high-voltage and high-current tests at high temperatures can be analyzed in terms of an Arrhenius law to estimate cable lifetimes 4. Estimated lifetimes are ~10 years for 5 kV heaters operated at ~500 °C or less 4.1 Additional long-term testing at lower temperatures is needed to validate these predictions 4.2 Additional testing at lower frequencies is also needed to adequately test any possible advantages.
