An Analysis on the Characteristics of Spatial Clustering Distribution in the Urban Fire of Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea

Contemporary cities provide residents with convenience due to the development of the state of technology, but risk always exists behind the convenience. Disasters cause serious damage in urban. Most of all, fire which is subject to disaster, has been steadily more increasing. Under such situation, the Ministry of Public Safety and Security in Korea operates the NFDS. Fire of 42,135 cases occurred in 2014, when there were fatalities of 2000 people and property damage of 400 billion won in Korea. In particular, Gyeongsangnam-do recorded the third with 3,622 cases of Korea. In this regard, this study analyzed the loss of lives and property damage and identified the clustering distribution through the relevant data by collecting the data of the fire occurrence conditions of the past from 2007 to 2014 targeting dong in Gyeonsangnam-do, Korea, based on the NFDS. To identify the clustering distribution pattern, spatial-autocorrelation was analyzed in ArcGIS. Global Moran's I statistics inferred correlation and has the value of +1~-1. At a global level, the understanding about the entire spatial pattern was possible through the spatial automation correlation analysis, but it may be difficult to specifically identify where clustering appears. To do this, Hot spot analysis by using Getis-ord Gi~* were utilized. The spatial clustering of the big values and the spatial clustering of small values in Gi~* can be distinguished. The analysis results of clustering characteristics according to fire cases, ignited factors, property and human damage based on the fire occurrence data from 2007 to 2014 reveal that distinctive clustering aspects were seen in East region and Jinju-Si in Gyeongsangnam-do, and the fire clustering distribution of low figure according to types appeared in rural villages and island areas. Therefore, it is hoped that this study will be utilized to establish measures to reduce fire damage by linking the fire damage of Gyeongsangnam-do, which tends to be high in fire occurrence among fire rankings in Korea.
