In this study, unsteady aerodynamics simulations of a road vehicle undergoing a meandering motion during sinusoidal steering input is conducted. As target vehicle geometries, two real sedan-type road vehicles with and without aerodynamic shape modification are investigated. Wake flow structures at the side of the vehicle are well reproduced by modeling the detailed geometries of a real sedan-type vehicle in the numerical simulation. The phase-averaged aerodynamic side force and yaw moment acting on each part of the body of the vehicle were fit to sinusoidal functions. Based on their fitting coefficients, the contributions of the side force and yaw moment to the aerodynamic responses were quantitatively discussed.
