With the development of smart grid, the voltage control is faced with serve challenge because we have more and more DG and new energy units involved in power grid. In order to solve the voltage coordinate control problem of smart grid as well as maintaining power grid security, in this paper, we proposed the strategy of voltage control in smart grid with FPGA. In this strategy, we resorted to MPC and modern control algorithm such as SQP and PSO to obtain the solution, and designed the basis structure of the system with MPC controller as its hard core and agent group as its organizing mode. Then, we provided the hardware and software design as well as the system integration and debugged method using FPGA. Finally, we analyzed its practicability and made the conclusion. The strategy and solutions put forward in this paper can not only benefit for smart grid construction, but also promote more and more DG connected in the smart grid and render the new ideas and inspiration to professionals that work in new energy application, power system operation, power market consumption, electric car service and some related areas. Furthermore, it provides the concept support for construct smart power grid, smart city, as well as smart China.
