Realizing even-odd mode conversion and optical diode effect in linear and passive two-dimensional photonic crystal

We present two approaches for mode conversion in photonic crystal. Waveguide with cavity design achieves 35 dB unidirectionality and > 90% forward transmission. Pure waveguide design with optimized 1×4 rods achieves bidirectional mode converter and diode separately.
