Power Quality is a major aspect of any power system. Therefore, identifying Power Quality issues is important for utilities. Continuous addition of wind power generation to the electrical network influence power quality in a very specific manner. At present a total installed capacity of 100MW of Wind Power in West Coast (Puttalam) area is connected to the Sri Lankan National Grid. A grid connected wind power plant should adhere to the power quality requirements stipulated in the National Grid Interconnection Code of Embedded Generators. However there exists, power quality issues such as voltage and current distortions, flicker which violates the Grid Code. This study investigates power quality issues related to integrated wind power plants at Puttalam Area.
