Thyristor Switched Filter is an effective reactive compensation and harmonic filter device, but its performance largely depends on the control strategy. According to the characteristics of injection molding machine in project, in view of the various disadvantages of existing control strategies, a new control strategy and corresponding multi-objective optimal design method for TSF based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proposed in this paper. The control strategy fully considers the changes of load. When the load changes frequently, the proposed control strategy can effectively decrease the switching times of TSF, reduce the unnecessary oscillation of system. Finally the experimental result shows that the reactive power and the total harmonic distortion of current on the supply network can be effectively reduced when TSF works, it proves the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
