A New Hydraulic Device to Convert Vehicles' Mechanical Energy into Electrical Energy

Investigation within road pavement energy harvesting technologies has increased in recent years, and multiple technologies have been developed in this field. However, none of it has presented technical or economic viability, as well as high conversion efficiencies. In this paper, a new road pavement energy harvesting solution based on a hydraulic system mechanically actuated is presented. The main goal is to quantify the energy harvesting and conversion efficiencies of the proposed solution and compare it to existing systems. Conclusions about the maximum theoretical efficiency of the proposed system are presented, as well as regarding the energy production.
