SPACE INNOVATION MINDED DESIGN: THE APPLICATION OF INNOVATIVE SPACE TECHNOLOGIES IN FUNCTIONAL AND UTILITARIAN PRODUCTS

摘要

This project focusses on explorative product design research into the application of innovative space technologies in functional and utilitarian products. The first phase of the project was research into tangents between product design and the space industry in the areas of technology, human design and strategic/experimental design. Posing a specific vision concerning the subject marked the second phase. In the final phase the project was materialized by developing a concrete product proposal: a cooking pot based on space technology that cooks faster and more energy efficient than a traditional one. This result shows us a synergy between the space industry and the creativity of the product designer, and could give an impetus towards the commercialization of space technologies.
