THE PLANNING OF AN ANALOGUE MANNED MISSION TO MARS AS A HIGHLIGHT OF ACTIVITIES DURING WORLD SPACE WEEK 2013

For World Space Week (WSW) in October 2013, the World Space Week Association, in partnership with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), Mars Society, the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF) and the Kiwispace Foundation prepared a Mars analogue simulation conducted by a crew of five people at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in USA and a Mission Control Center (MCC) located in Austria.' This poster focuses on the planning aspect of the mission with the mission objectives of improving the protocols for mission design, activity planning and scheduling, as well as the study of the communications between the field crew in MDRS and MCC.
