A comparative analysis of integer and non-integer order Savitzky-Golay (SG) digital filters for the removal of noise is presented in this paper. The necessary derivation for the calculation of output signal is carried out. Fractional calculus based derivation of Savitzky-Golay filters is also presented. The performance of the filters is tested by taking examples of sinusoidal signal, Electrocardiogram(ECG) Signal, and primary shock under the presence of noise. Merits and demerits of the proposed filters is presented. All simulations are carried out using MATLAB.
