This report of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) can be seen as a feasible solution to traffic congestion byrealizing; what it is, what are its goals, what are its limitations, why choose it over a typical bussystems and rail systems, will the community accept the new transportation mode and how canwe get the optimum potential of the system. BRT is designed using delicate transportation designstrategies such as; dedicated lanes, adequate station design, master planning of service andoperation, faster toll collection, up to date Infrastructure and Intelligent Transportation systemapplications. Design strategies will improve time, safety and cost effectiveness to the public byaccomplishing the BRT goals of increasing speed, increasing ridership with high quality. BRTsystems have the ability of downgrading to Minimum Operable Segments. Unlike rail BRT is aflexible transit design system which can take shortcuts in the design process used as a good orbad attribute, pending accuracy of the design. BRT acceptance is determined with algorithmssuch as logistic modeling and ridership data, used within a community. Optimum potentialdetermination of a system is possible by looking at international and local studies examiningBRT problems and strengths. Problems consist of unforeseen conflicts with other transportationmodes and population booms. Determining if a system will be used also heavily falls on thequality. Most transit systems are seen as eyesores and inefficient modes with over-congestion,these barriers can be overcome with proper design that gives a captivating addition to thecommunity.
