The National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex has been working since 2008 to develop a robust and reliable method for performing wall interference corrections on wind tunnel data obtained in both the 40- by 80-ft Wind Tunnel and the 80- by 120-ft Wind Tunnel. The recently-completed NASA/JPL Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator test series offered a unique verification opportunity. Using data obtained in these tests, NFAC was able to prove that the previously developed Hensel correction for blockage is applicable to large decelerators and dynamic test articles with large dynamic motions. Verification of the correction magnitude was also obtained through comparison to local tunnel dynamic pressure measurements.
