A Focusing Schlieren system was designed and optimized to be used in the 6" by 6" high speed wind tunnel at the University of Alabama. The Focusing Schlieren system allows for the visualization of the various high speed flows without the integrating effect of traditional Schlieren systems. Its properties were analyzed using simple supersonic jet flows to ensure its usefulness and understand its limitations.
