Due to constant advances in technology and growing business competition, it is increasingly common for technology companies to offer users' training in their service portfolio. In this sense, an effective planning method for allocating instructors to courses is necessary to prevent overload, subcontracting or idle workforce, as well as offering a good service level to consumers. Thus, this study proposes a mathematical model for the Personnel Scheduling Problem in the IT training industry, since there is a lack of specific approaches for training companies with acyclic annual periods in the literature. Therefore, a case study at Motorola Solutions was performed aiming to perform a preliminary validation of the model. By using the proposed approach, the company was able to easily identify that it was necessary to hire more instructors, so as to avoid overloading or subcontracting, ensuring the quality of service. We concluded the study pointing out some possible improvements for future research.
