Higher performance requires the effective operation and maintenance of power generation's sub-system, often necessitating the implementation of cost-effective preventive maintenance strategies. Therefore, a higher performance target means higher maintenance investment. However, the question of setting performance target for Coal Handling System (CHS) is not easy, as it involves many influencing decision parameters, apart from a good understanding of CHS configuration and power generation load capacity. The measurements of performance i.e. Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) of CHS are defined. Moreover, the application of Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) is currently developing in many fields of asset.
