Mixed Flow Gas testing is widely used in industry as a means to accelerate corrosion in electronics. Although the science behind mixed flow gas testing is well-documented, the challenges of performing mixed flow gas testing on electrically powered products are not often discussed in the literature. This paper describes the authors' experiences with performing mixed flow gas tests on over two hundred different industrial electronic products as well as perspective from over 30 years of company experiences with mixed flow gas testing. The advantages of performing testing on electrically powered products, test fixture design best practices, the impact of powered products on testing, and post-test analyses are described.
