The lifetime of a generator depends mostly on its active parts, the ones that convertmechanical energy into electrical energy. Due to power losses, these components produceheat, so temperature must be maintained within allowable limits, usually established byinternational standards.Today, among other things, power system demands higher efficiencies. Generator´s efficiencycan be improved by means of reducing ventilation losses, in most cases are the greatest one inthe generator. A proper airflow avoiding recirculation and hot spots could be one of the keyactions to optimize the machine.
