Screen bowl centrifuges are widely used in coal preparation for fine coal (-1 mm) dewatering. A new generation of screen bowl centrifuges is introduced in this paper. The new design features removable screen section, improved part wear life, and user friendliness. The screen section is made of removable square screen blocks that are mounted from the outside, which makes it easier for screen replacement and adjustment. Different wear protection materials are applied to increase the wear life at high wear locations. Other features such as sectional feed pipe offer enhanced usability. Typical fine coal dewatering circuits equipped with screen bowl centrifuges are discussed and field test data are presented in this paper.
