1. BASF is expanding its cathode materials and electrolyte portfolio, developing advanced high voltage Li-ion battery materials to solve customer focused application problems targeting improved energy density, power density, safety and lower cost. 2. This means commercializing higher Ni content for cathode materials and Ni rich Mn spinel materials for increased energy while engineering compatible electrolytes that resist oxidation at higher voltages and gassing while improving impedance stability and long term cycle life at elevated temperatures. 3. We will present our recent efforts to develop cathode active materials and electrolytes for high voltage applications, illustrating that development of such leads in the direction of a materials systems understanding and an integrated materials approach.
