A model for energy consumption required for space heating in office buildings is presented and validated on the data available for city of Torino (Italy). The hourly energy consumption of building with known characteristics (building features, solar exposure, type of users and environmental factors) are analyzed. The buildings are grouped and models for hourly energy profiles are defined for different temperatures on Mondays and other days of the week. All the buildings are connected to the district heating network and two heating seasons were considered. The proposed model is focused on the evaluation of the morning peak consumption that is key factor to be evaluated for the decisions related to the development of the district heating network.
