摘要

Spectral conversion phenomena such as down conversion, up conversion, and down shift have been attracted to further enhance the device performance of solar cells. Owing to the thermodynamic limit of photo-conversion efficiency, spectral conversion has been a promising candidate to tune the absorption light spectrum. Quantum dots have been reported higher efficiency as down conversion or down shift. Rigid surface passivation of cadmium or lead based quantum dots might give chemical resistances or stabilities. However, non-toxic materials as spectral converting quantum dots would be a long-term solution regarding to environmental aspects. In this study, non-toxic zinc oxide based quantum dots are shown enhanced efficiency of hydrogenated amorphous silicon solar cells as a spectral conversion layer with more than 5% of efficiency gain.
