This paper examines the operation of the vector modulated and vector controlled VIENNA I rectifier in cases of distorted and unbalanced mains voltages. The principles of the applied modulation and control methods are presented. The rectifier operation is verified by simulations and experimental measurements. The rectifier examined operates at 10 kW rated power with 650 V DC voltage and 7.14 kHz switching frequency. The digital control system and vector modulator are implemented with Motorola MPC555 microcontroller.
