The present paper deals with the threedimensionalflow in a shock layer at supersonictransverse flow conditions over the front surfaceof a cylinder under small, spatially-periodicperturbations along the transverse coordinate.Based on the numerical solution of the unsteadythree-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations, it isshown that small imposed perturbations of thefree stream velocity (0.5 - 3 %) along thetransverse coordinate lead to the shockcurvature and cause the formation of vortexstructures in the shock layer and significantperturbations of the heat flux on the surface.
