In this paper an initial implementation ofa real-time aircraft trajectory optimizationalgorithm is presented. The aircraft trajectoryfor descent and approach is computed forminimum use of thrust and speed brake insupport of a “green” continuous descent andapproach flight operation, while complying withATC time constraints for maintaining runwaythroughput and considering realistic windconditions. The trajectory optimizer forms animportant part of a new integrated, planningand guidance concept named TEMO (Time andEnergy Managed Operations) developed in theSystems for Green Operations (SGO) Clean SkyEU-program. It is compared with a typical A320Flight Management System (FMS) showingimprovements regarding time adherenceperformance and environmental impact.
