It is again an honour to chair the Technical Advisory Committee of the International Conference on Water Jetting, this being the 22nd conference in the series and my second term in succession. This is also the second time the conference has been held in The Netherlands, and it strangely does not seem that long ago since the 10th conference held in Amsterdam, 1990. I attended my first water jetting conference in 1982 and still continue to be amazed by the new and exciting challenges and diversity of water jet solutions. We have to thank a worldwide network of researchers, equipment manufacturers and end-users for making the water jetting industry mature and successful, while continuing to push forward the technical and economic boundaries that are needed to be competitive.
