In this paper, the performance of inter vehicle communication (IVC) is evaluated when direct sequence spreads spectrum (DS/SS) communication using slotted ALOHA for the media access control (MAC) protocol is applied. It is possible to reduce the influence of near-far problem and multiple access interference by using successive interference cancellation (SIC). However, the inter-symbol interference still remains as a problem when the communication distance is wider or the GPS positioning error occurs. This paper shows that the performance of DS/SS IVC based on location oriented PN code allocation is improved by restricting communication distance, because the probability of inter-symbol interference is reduced. And, the influence of GPS positioning error is also evaluated.
