ITS FACTORY - INTELLIGENCE TO BOOST SMART CITY

Mid-sized cities are struggling with worse and worse traffic conditions in the same manner than the larger cities, only the scale of severity is different. City of Tampere, with the current population of 220.000, has chosen to be proactive and prepare for the future. The ITS Factory, the regional proving, testing and demonstration environment for ITS innovation and demonstration projects, has been seen as a most important tool and means to bring public, private and academia/researchers together. This paper describes the high-level content and structure how the actual work will be re-organised for the period of 2014-2017. The structure has been simplified and streamlined during the last few months, and the current status of ITS Factory has reached maturity for lively and smooth operations to be engaged.
