Pressure Drop and Heat Transfer Characteristics analysis of the Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger using CFD simulations
Supercritical carbon dioxide(S-CO_2) based on Bray ton cycle is a good alternative to conventional power cycles because of high efficiency and compact system structure. A kind of compact plate-type heat exchanges, namely, Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) is one of the attractive options for S-CO2 Brayton Cycles, because it can withstand higher temperature and pressure and has high surface-area-to-volume. In current study, simplified computational models of PCHE are investigated using STAR CCM+ software. Overall, performance characteristics of the PCHE computational model are computed and described in terms of the overall heat transfer coefficient and friction factor.
