摘要

This paper deals with a high power oil-cooled electrical eddy current retarder (EECR), which is used in heavy vehicles like armored cars, large trucks, etc. Firstly, the braking torque are deduced based on electromagnetic theory, and an inner-rotor EECR is designed preliminarily to satisfy the performance requirement presented for a certain vehicle brake system. Then, a special oil-cooling system is proposed and the flow rate of the cooling oil is calculated. By using finite element method (FEM), the braking performances are analyzed to verify the design. The temperature distribution is simulated, and mechanical calculation is also considered to ensure the overall performance of the EECR.
