In this paper, A mathematical model of single side linear induction motor(SLIM) considering dynamic end effects is presented, the field oriented control(FOC) is implemented in which the end effect is compensated and the dynamic response is improved. A loss model of SLIM to consider the influence of primary leakage inductance is developed, in which the iron loss resistance is paralleled with primary magnetizing branch instead of mutual magnetizing branch. An efficiency optimization control scheme (EOC) based on the developed loss model (LMC) is proposed, the efficiency of SLIM can be improved with LMC, especially in the light load range. Another efficiency optimization control method based on golden section search algorithm (SC) is also applied for comparing with LMC, The convergence of the proposed SC method is improved, the proposed SC is independence of the model parameters and does not need to reinitiate the search process as the motor load is changed. All the proposed drive algorithms of SLIM are validated by experimental results.
