Investigation of Visual Comfort with Dynamic Colourful LED Billboards

This study investigates the flicker glare and visual comfort affected by staring at a colorful and high brightness LED panel. Two important factors: flicker frequency and luminance are chosen to find the relations to discomfort feelings. The results show that among the studied conditions, the flicker frequency at 20 Hz is most discomfort to the participants. By curve fitting the results, we modelled the comfort ratings as functions of the two factors and found the range of comfortable operating conditions.
