This paper proposed a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and voltage regulated (VR) dual-chip system for photovoltaic (PV) energy harvesting. Self-powered and low-cost miniaturized system is important in a quality agriculture system that is extensive use of wireless sensor network (WSN). This proposed power management controls a two-stage boost converter that can boost the output voltage to 3.3V to power an application system by only one NiMH battery and one single-cell PV. A single-cell PV avoids huge power loss with partial shading effect. According to the simulation results, the MPPT efficiency is up to 96.5% and the conversion efficiency is up to 97.2%.
