Most GPR applications focus on object identifications and multi-dimensional mapping by extensive signal processing tasks in time domain. This approach suffers from the loss of signal originality that characterizes the desired material properties. This paper attempts to introduce another method of signal analysis based on short time-fourier transform (STFT) in time-frequency domain which aims to restore the information of material properties based on spatial frequency distributions. Examples of two scenarios: a lawn embedded with plastic irrigation pipes and a concrete wall embedded with a steel bar matrix, are given in this paper to introduce this novel method of GPR signal analysis.
