The NASA Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission, launched on March 12, 2015, is flying four spinning spacecraft in highly elliptical orbits to study the magnetosphere of the Earth. The paper will discuss how operations of the Star Sensors onboard the MMS observatories have evolved from pure attitude sensors to a hybrid configuration that now provides both attitude and science in the form of high energy particle profiling.
