When the workload structure is well defined, either by planned under-utilization or by enforced interactions, staffing considerations and workload are easier to predict. Increasing operational tempo, satellite constellation size, sharing jobs, and incorporating additional and potentially conflicting timing considerations make experience-based predictions less useful and reliable due to unfamiliarity and the complexity of interaction dynamics. The Improved Performance Research Integration Tool (IMPRINT) has been our tool to model both current and notional Mission Operations Center configurations. Discrete task-level information is used to construct or parameterize networks representing the flow, performance time and accuracy for operational or maintenance missions. The Missions module uses embedded algorithms to model the effects of personnel characteristics, training frequency, and environmental stressors on the overall system performance. IMPRINT outputs can be used as a quantitative basis for estimating work force lifecycle costs.
