The Re-use of the Cave-dwellings in Northern Shaanxi Province

摘要

In this paper, the author primarily analyses the environment problem caused by architecture in China nowadays and Chinese government' s ambitious to decrease energy consumption.However, as the ecological friendly residence, more and more cave-dwellings are abandoned in Northern Shaanxi with urbanisation and the popularity of modern dwellings.In the later part, the writer introduces the ecological value of cave-dwellings;argues defects of the cave-dwelling itself bring difficulties in reusing of cave-dwellings in modern era.Two cave-dwellings reuse and renovation projects in Shaanxi are studied at the same time to argue the importance of policy guide in different aspects during the re-use processes.
