Hybrid analog and digital beamforming is a promising low-complexity technology in millimeter-wave (mmWave) MIMO wireless systems for its capability of approaching the performance of fully digital schemes while significantly reducing the hardware complexity of the conventional fully digital beamforming schemes. In this paper, we consider the downlink communication of a massive multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) system and propose an iterative algorithm to jointly design both the hybrid precoder and combiners based on Generalized Low Rank Approximation of Matrices (GLRAM) algorithm. Simulation results show that the iterative nature of the proposed algorithm allows the hybrid combiners match better with the hybrid precoder at the BS with better performance compared to the conventional hybrid beamforming methods.
