High-sensitivity THz spectroscopy for biological systems

A high sensitivity time-resolved terahertz spectrometer, utilizing a double-modulation lock-in detection scheme, has been developed and used to study the photoexcited dynamics of the light-harvesting complex 2 from Rhodopsedomonas Acidophilia. The spectrometer is sensitive to photoexcited absorption changes of 1 in 35,000.
