SAR payload used in a Satellite transmits a ground control station its SAR raw data by wireless datalink for post processing, therefore efforts of compressing large size of Satellite SAR raw data have been studied much. In this paper, we introduce the Block Gain Vector Quantization (BGVQ) which reduces its data size effectively, then general natural images compressed with BGVQ are compared by SNR with real/imaginary or magnitude/phase SAR raw data. The general natural images are clear even at 64:1 compression, however real/imaginary SAR raw data is clear when compression ratio is decreased to 16:1 compression, magnitude/phase SAR raw data is clear at 4:1 compression.
