The experiments were conducted under shadenet condition and field condition at Sugarcane Research Station, Melalathur (TNAU) during 2011-13 to evaluate the sugarcane clones for their resistance to woolly aphids under artificial infested condition and its yield potential of SWA resistance clones under field condition during eary season planting. Out of 46 clones tested against woolly aphids infested condition in shadenet, 10 clones viz., 05G108, 05G 047, 05G 019, 06C 138, 06C 335, 08G 031, 09G 016, 09G 018, 09G 027 and 10G 045 were resistant to woolly aphids. The above ten clones were tested under field condition using infesto row technique with Co 86032 as susceptible check. The clones 05G 108 was identified as high yielding and high sugared variety, which recorded the highest sugar yield of 11.77 t/ha from cane yield of 93.32 t/ha and commercial cane sugar of 12.61% with resistant to woolly aphids. Another clone viz., 05G 047 is also high sugared with high yielding characters, which registered the next highest sugar yield of 11.03 t/ha from the cane yield of 89.13 t/ha and. commercial cane sugar of 12.38%, which is also resistant to woolly aphids. Whereas the susceptible check Co 86032 has yielded the sugar yield of 8.63 t/ha from the cane yield of 83.13 t/ha with CCS of 10.38% under woolly aphids infested field condition in early season planting.
