Research Roadshow: Research Design beyond the Ordinary

Research design is a vital consideration when embarkingon any research venture. The careful selection of method(or combination of methods) and project design are integralto obtaining funding, completing a successful study, andhaving your research accepted for presentation andpublication. This panel adopts a format similar to theAntiques Roadshow to focus on research design, withinteractive audience participation. The show will beginwith three experts (Connaway, Radford, and Wildemuth)briefly discussing the strengths and weaknesses of thedesign for a particular study they conducted. Anotherpanelist (Shah) will present the panelists with a study thathe would be interested in conducting, and describe one ormore aspects of the research design (his treasure) that hehas found to be challenging. The panelists will offer theiradvice and comment on any additional obstacles he mightexpect to face in conducting the study. Shah will then invitethe audience to join in by presenting ideas for studiesthey’d like to conduct (i.e., the potential valuables sitting intheir intellectual attics) the panelists will respond to andcomment on each, appraising the value and prospects (forpublication).
