The Space Launch System Capabilities for Exploration Missions

摘要

The Space Launch System (SLS) is a national asset with performance capabilities for enabling a promising set of space exploration missions in 2020-2040. In this paper the SLS is described, and payload estimates are given for a broad range of beyond Earth orbit injection energies. The significant benefit gained by the addition of a large upper stage is presented.
