THE INHERENT OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF WATERS IN SOUTH OF VIETNAM COASTAL

Four oceanography surveys were carried out in 3 different areas. The first surveyed was in Nha Trang bay with 8 stations. The second survey was Binh Thuan coastal area with 12 stations. The third and fourth surveyed was in the Mekong delta coastal area with 10 stations. At each station, The Profiling Reflectance Radiometer (PRR2600) and water sample were deployed to collect data. The remote sensing reflectance getting from PRR showed similar patterns in Nha Tranh and Binh Thuan, but in Mekong Delta coastal is very different and complex. The reflectance derived absorption of chlorophyll by using Quasi-Analytical Algorithm (QAA) developed Lee etc. 2002 showed a slight effect by phytoplankton at almost stations in Nha Trang and more stronger in Binh Thuan, the absorption of detritus and Gelstrof profile indicated domination of suspended solid in the Mekong delta coastal area. These results agreed well with the in-situ data of chlorophyll-a and total suspended solid.
