摘要

Overall, this work demonstrates that 3D printed NP laden constructs used in tissue engineering applications can be used in prevention of biofilm formation and also as potential contrast agents in-vivo. It also suggests that difference in SPION concentrations aid in providing increases in CT/MRI constrast and antimicrobial activity. Ongoing studies are focusing on incorporating macrophages in co-culture with staph epi to elicit an immune response in-vitro. Future studies will incorporate functional cardiomyocytes into the printed NP-laden tissues and assess for cell viability and cell phenotype. This work informs on the use of nanoparticles in 3D bioprinted tissues and contribute to their potential therapeutic applications in a clinical setting.
