By incorporating biomedical and chemical engineering principles, DBCO-conjugated dendrimers provided biocompatible, efficient, and uniform uptake of a desired payload. The G4-DBCO material allows for short incubation times sufficient for the click chemistry reaction, which decreases the exposure time of the anticancer drug CPT for non-specific uptake by cells. Additional work on mixed azide-labeled/unlabled cell populations will be conducted to further investigate a reduction in off-target toxicity.
